Due to its simple structure, they are also easier to sharpen than other types of scissors. Nowadays, it's rare to find people with the ability to make these types of scissors from a single rod of iron by hand. These grip scissors are made by craftsmen in their 70s using high-carbon steel called Aohagane (blue steel) which is stronger and more durable than other metals.
