During a trip to the south of France in the late 1960s, Tom van der Bruggen fell under the spell of a ruined farmhouse and decided to transform it into a castle.
In order to visualize his project, he tries to make a model using wooden cubes. However, these cubes are too massive to allow him to build a precise and realistic model. He then decided to create his own building elements.
This is how the KAPLA magic board was born, the one that lets you build anything!
Tom called it KAPLA® for KAbouter PLAnkje: “elf board” in Dutch.
