Traditionally, local production was limited to standard shopping bags with handles, used to transport rubble to construction sites. In 2006, Karawan organized a workshop with young designers from the Lyon School of Applied Arts. New models are created, with a view to promoting grueling work. Textile-reinforced tires, different from tires in Western countries, are stripped with a knife to reveal up to 12 layers. These preformed sheets, retaining the curve of the tire, are then rolled up, cut, sewn or riveted, to give rise to useful objects for both the home and the garden.
