Non-volcanic soil at some of the highest altitudes in Central America, cooled by mountain air breathing down from the Cuchumatanes produces the perfect micro-climate for coffee to flourish undisturbed. For somewhere so remote, Huehuetenango’s web of intertwining rivers and streams that carve through the tropical forests and plunging valleys mean local producers are able to build their coffee mills and bring us strictly high-grown, handpicked arabica beans.
