Starry night over the Rhône

Vincent van Gogh painted 'Starry Night over the Rhône' in September 1888, just minutes away from his Yellow House in Arles. The painting shows the reflection of gas lighting on the water of the Rhône, a relatively new phenomenon at the time. Interestingly, although Van Gogh was looking southwest, he depicted the constellation Ursa Major, which is actually only visible in the north.
