Our natural shea butter is still hand-kneaded in the old traditional way and produced locally in a small village in Ghana. It is made from the kernels of the shea tree, which is also known as the African butter tree. It is also called Butyrospermum Parkii butter, Karité butter, Ivory or raw Shea butter. Thanks to the gentle production process, our unrefined shea butter retains its most valuable fats and its natural scent. Unrefined shea butter is known for its regenerating, protective and soothing properties. The special production method also makes it softer in consistency and gives it a nutty scent. It impresses with its unique quality. Using Shea Butter The unrefined shea butter in the large 5 kg package is perfect for making your own body care products, such as:Bossa Nova U. We do not refill these quantities in order to save packaging waste. Notes This is not refined, pressed, deodorized or filtered shea butter! The natural smell of untreated shea butter comes from the naturally contained essential oils. The scent is described as earthy, aniseed, nutty or chocolate. It is usually no longer noticeable 10 - 15 minutes after application and is different from the smell of refined shea butter or filtered odorless shea butter. You should like the natural scent. Good to know: Our shea butter has a soft consistency at room temperature and can be used directly. If the shea butter has a grainy consistency, this is not a quality defect but is due to temperature fluctuations, e.g. Bossa Nova U. during transport. The grains or crystals dissolve when the butter melts.
