This is the story of Robin and Ben, two hell of a brat. Robin is fearless, while Ben is the type to deceive his people from behind. One leaves his homeland to become a pirate and wage battle on all the seas of the globe. The other stays at home, where he leads the comfortable existence of an apothecary, and amasses a nice little nest egg. Their reunion has a big surprise in store for the reader... The Pirate and the Apothecary is a text by Stevenson which had never been translated into French. This text, written during a stay in Switzerland, is part of the ‘Moral Emblems’. It was the German artist Henning Wagenbreth, well known in the graphic design world and professor at the Berlin School of Fine Arts, who chose to illustrate and translate this text. Its graphic and colorful illustrations allow you to discover this tale in verse and its paradoxical morality where the supposed villain ends up doing justice. A magnificent album that makes for exhilarating reading. Author: HENNING WAGENBRETH, TEXT BY ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON
