The injury

A great war reporter, Jean-Baptiste Naudet will face death in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Kosovo. He dives into these contemporary conflicts, eyes wide with horror, with the feeling of being pushed there by an implacable hand. Over time, haunted by dantesque images and a victim of post-traumatic stress, he ended up in a Parisian psychiatric ward. He then searches for the meaning of his tragic journey. THE MISSING FIANCE Jean-Baptiste gradually realizes that he has unconsciously identified with Robert, his mother's fiancé, killed in action in Algeria. This mother, Danielle, whom in his frightened childhood he had seen sink into madness. This woman haunted by grief and guilt towards the Algerian people. SAVE YOUR SKIN To save his skin, Jean-Baptiste unearths the story of Robert, the sacrificed alpine hunter. In Savoy, he finds his grave, meets his brother. Then he turns to his own father, once Robert's best friend. The latter gives her the letters of Danielle and her fiancé which restore a semester of love, life in combat, waiting in Paris and political rage. It takes him ten years to manage to read them and then write this often apocalyptic story. This choral book intertwines the three lives of Robert, Danielle and Jean-Baptiste, pierced by the same bullet, fired one day in June 1960 somewhere in Kabylia.
