BADMINTON POSTER

Badminton is an indoor racquet sport where two players (singles) or two pairs (doubles) compete by hitting a shuttlecock over a net. The objective of the game is to knock the shuttlecock into the opponent's court while preventing it from touching the ground in your own court. The origin of badminton dates back to ancient India, where the game was called 'Poona'. The players then used wooden rackets and a feather ball. The game became popular in England in the late 19th century, where it was played in gardens and parks. This is where we started to use a feather shuttlecock, lighter and more maneuverable than the ball. In 1873, the Duke of Beaufort introduced the game to his estate at Badminton House in Gloucestershire, England, where it was played in a practice hall converted into a badminton court. This is where the name badminton comes from. The sport quickly spread among British aristocratic circles, before becoming popular with the general public. The first national championship was held in 1899 in England, and badminton became an Olympic sport in 1992 in Barcelona. Today, badminton is played all over the world, both recreationally and competitively, and has a large following thanks to its ease of access and numerous health benefits.
