BIARRITZ POSTER

In this original work by Lotza, we go to Biarritz in the Basque Country to swim at the Grande Plage. Known as the main beach in Biarritz, the Grande Plage de Biarritz was called "the coast of madmen" at the beginning of the 19th century, because therapeutic bathing was practiced there to restore sanity to the insane. The turning point came in 1854, when the town became the holiday residence of Napoleon III and his wife Eugenie. You will notice that the Villa Eugénie, located in the background of the illustration, was built by Napoleon III for his wife Eugénie. The building was built in the shape of the letter E which we can see from a little height. Biarritz is a coastal city located in the southwest of France, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department, Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It is located on the Basque coast, on the Spanish border, and is known for its sandy beaches, surfing waves and lively atmosphere. Biarritz became a popular holiday destination in the 1800s when the French imperial family began vacationing there. Since then, it has become an elegant resort, with numerous luxury hotels, casinos, restaurants and shops. The city is also known for its Belle Époque architecture, with many buildings built in this style.Biarritz is located in the Bay of Biscay, on the Atlantic coast of France. The city has a rich history, having been a favored destination for European royalty and aristocrats in the 19th century.
