Ready for a hike? This original work by Lotza will make you want to climb the Rhune or take its little train, called "tren txikia" in Basque, one of the last rack railways, in service since 1924; departure from Sare. It takes you to the top of the Rhune, 900m. For the more athletic among you, I advise you to leave from Olhette (approx. 2h climb) or Ascain (approx. 1h30 climb). During your hike, especially starting from Ascain, you will see dolmens, but also tumuli (heaps of earth that cover a grave) and cromlech (an alignment of menhirs), attesting to a prehistoric presence! From the top of La Rhune, you can see the entire Basque coast, from Hendaye to Biarritz via Ciboure, Socoa and Saint-Jean-de-Luz.
