This is a Unique aged Ottoman style German Bakelite which was crafted by a respected master of its trade. Such a piece is made only once make this very collectible. This most amazing piece is estimated to be over 80 YEARS OLD, still in its perfect condition with each bead taking change in colour to its dark cherry & will continue in doing so. The unique colour and veins running through within in each bead proves its age and originality, tassel on the other hand being such a beautiful master craft, prayer bead strand that was carved pre 1940, THIS IS NOT THE NEWER IMITATION BAKELITE. The beads are carved in a traditional Arabic cut (this is where the beads are offset), when rubbed create static electricity/pick up and let off a beautiful smell, you can see the lovely patina when held. 18gr 925 tassel with front face having a unique design, the master spared no effort and made a remarkable Arabic letters inside making it a total different character. GERMAN BAKELITE: A hard, infusible, and chemically resistant plastic, Bakelite was based on a chemical combination of phenol and formaldehyde (phenol-formaldehyde resin), two compounds that were derived from coal tar and wood alcohol (methanol), respectively, at that time.
