This is a Unique aged OTTOMAN STYLE BAKELITE FATURAN which was crafted by a respected master of its trade. Such a piece is made only once, this very collectible. This most amazing piece is estimated to be over 80 YEARS OLD, still in its perfec condition. This amazing piece is a pleasure to hold or to watch within your collection, Large beads and heavy in weight is just remarkable, In time each bead will change in colour to its dark cherry & will continue in doing so. The unique colour and veins running through within in each bead proves its age and originality, 925 tassel on the other hand is a total Hand craft with weight of 18gr. prayer bead strand that was carved pre 1940, THIS IS NOT THE NEWER IMITATION Faturan. The beads are carved in a traditional cut, when rubbed it creates a static electricity/pick up and let off a beautiful smell, you can see the lovely patina when held. FATURAN, became the protected brand name of one particular German company who mass-produced synthetic resin in rod form for making beads. These beads are now rare, but rarer still are the handmade beads of Arava Faturan's time. The creation of "Faturan" is thought to have originated by a chemist. He was melting down the filings left after carving beads from amber and mixed these remnants with other natural resins, such as mastika, frankincense, colophony, and turpentine, to mold individual beads from natural substances. Unfortunately, his original formula has long since been lost. These Prayer beads are a sacred object that is used to help a person recite a mantra or a prayer. These are made from natural materials, including stones.
