An Other Tarot

This tarot is a deck created in collaboration with Image Format, a visual creation studio. Inclusive and contemporary, An Other Tarot updates the classic tarot: the twenty-two major mysteries of the traditional game are freely reinterpreted around new symbols whose meaning echoes the modern world, through a singular format and a radical graphic style. Beyond the divinatory and mystical use that is usually associated with it, the tarot is above all a tool for exploring oneself. Each card represents an archetype that structures our unconscious and guides our behavior: let's take a fresh look at what these figures mean today, the way they inhabit our world and how we can embody them. An Other Tarot is different, both in substance and form: traditional symbols are presented in a new form, freed from gender stereotypes and obsolete figures of the classic game. The booklet that accompanies the cards weaves links between these symbols and the challenges of today's world, from an individual and collective point of view, so that the tarot becomes a practice open and useful to all. The cards are printed in France on a large format of 10x15cm, using a hot stamping technique carried out on traditional presses. The thick sheets of paper, whose fibers are dyed blue at the time of their manufacture, are embossed using a metal tool specially made for each side, and heated so as to fix a metallic silver film in the paper. This process offers a unique touch to each of the 22 cards in the game, the antithesis of modern industrial materials and printing techniques.
