Burnt out pocket

MAUD empty pockets are taken directly from a piece of trunk, before being dug in the mass with a wood lathe, then burned using a traditional Japanese method. This technique called shou-sugi-ban (or yakisugi) naturally protects them from bad weather, insects and even fire! Their deep matt black will contrast with the objects they contain, the better to sublimate them.
