Coming from the cold pressing of fresh coconut pulp, vegetable coconut oil has great nourishing, soothing and protective properties for the skin of the face and body. It is also a great hair regenerating oil. Its nutritional qualities make it a food of choice, especially as part of a ketogenic diet. If you store it in the fridge it will get very hard, but will melt very quickly if you soak the bottle in warm water. If they both come from the same plant, cocos nucifera, the quality is not at all the same. Coconut oil is obtained by first cold pressing fresh coconut pulp. Unheated and without the use of solvents, it retains all the properties of fatty acids and vitamins. Much less expensive, copra oil is the result of the pressing of dried coconuts. It is first refined while hot to rid it of microbes, bacteria and other impurities accumulated during the drying time, then deodorized. This whole process alters its components and qualities. Copra oil is mainly used in industrial baking and soap making.
