The wood will naturally acquire a patina towards a verdigris color which will rub off in the sun. If you wish to preserve the finish (paint), it is recommended to use a "boat" quality polyurethane varnish containing "UV" protection. Being outdoors, this feeder will require a little annual maintenance.
