Clary Sage in Perfumery

Taking its name from the Latin salvare, “which saves”, sage is famous for its thousand virtues. This Mediterranean plant has been used since ancient times, both in sacred rituals and in cooking, cosmetics and aromatherapy. Its mauve flowers and velvety leaves give off a powerful herbaceous and animal scent, known in the garden to naturally repel pests. A must-have in perfumery, the essence obtained by distillation of the whole plant is used as much for its green and aromatic profile as for its tenacity.
