The connection to the rope harks back to the "Baci" ceremony performed by the village Shaman, where strings of string are tied to the wrists of the celebrants. It represents the connection of the 32 spirits to the body, bringing them back into harmony, as well as luck and prosperity. The design also represents the weaving of the rope commonly used in all rural villages. Made from melted aluminum derived from scraps of war ordnance and other recycled materials, individual pieces are hand-cast by local artisans from the village of Ban Naphia.
