Over the years, I have struggled to find sleepwear that suits both my style and cup size. All too often, women have had to choose between the bordello and the boring when dressing for bed. And as most sleepwear is available in a limited range of sizes, my own experience has been one of poor cup fit, with little or no support, resulting in an unflattering silhouette. Despite much talk of sleepwear as outerwear and crossing into loungewear, in reality women are still burdened by bras 24/7.
Talking to my female friends and colleagues, I was amazed to learn how many slept in a bra and that most were unhappy with their sleepwear choices – as were their partners. There seemed to be a real desire among women to look more attractive at bedtime and at home in sleepwear that is subtly appealing and feminine, rather than overtly sexual.
Driven by my passion for creative design and entrepreneurship, I decided to create a collection that offered women the elusive fusion of comfort, support and sophistication they were seeking. After eighteen months of hard work, lots of determination and the luck of meeting a few key people in the lingerie industry who joined our team, we launched Nui Ami’s in late 2015 and have continued to create elegant sleepwear and lounge that are pretty enough to seduce in but comfortable enough to sleep in.
