A FEW LINES ABOUT THIS LANDMARK The Globe Theatre was a playhouse in Elizabethan London associated with William Shakespeare. It was built in 1599 by Shakespeare's playing company, and was destroyed by fire on 29 June 1613. A modern reconstruction of the Globe, named "Shakespeare's Globe", opened in 1997 very close from the site of the original theatre. Our paper model is based on the current reconstruction with an addition of the hexagonal tower which can be seen in early sketches of the original Globe architecture.
