
The Komodo dragon is the largest living species of lizard, with an average length of 2 to 3 meters and a mass of about 70 kg. It can be found on the islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, Gili Motang and Gili Dasami in central Indonesia. It is dark green, gray or black in color, which allows it to blend into its environment and discreetly approach its prey to surprise them. This carnivore feeds mainly on carrion but can kill prey. The bite of the Komodo Dragon is venomous, the bacteria present on their teeth and saliva are very effective in obtaining food. The life cycle of the Komodo Dragon is 20 years.
