The golden cetonia, also called "rose chafer", has a wide chromatic variation. Most often a more or less bright metallic green color, it can sometimes be tinged with red, but very rarely with blue, purple or black. It likes sunny places from April to October but especially in summer from June to August. It eats the stamens of flowers for their pollen as well as whole flowers such as those of roses, fruit trees, elderberries and others. It can also feed on ripe fruit on elderberries, roses, privet or spirea.
