All of our soapstone artifacts come from Tabaka / Kisii. The quite soft natural stone is worked 100% by hand - beaten, carved, sanded, polished and sometimes also painted. We work on site with 26 producers, who in turn pass their orders on to the mostly independent carvers / artists. The color of the stone varies between white, gray, yellowish and reddish shades and is mostly interspersed with different grains. This makes each product unique due to its shape and color. I am in Tabaka 3 times a year. During this time it can happen that the order is delivered with a little delay.
