The Pastéis de Nata are undoubtedly one of the most famous and typical baked goods in Portugal. The delicious little 'cream cakes' are made of puff pastry with a pudding filling. The original recipe is attributed to the monks of the Jerome Monastery in Belém, now a district of Lisbon, and is said to be well over 300 years old. The original name 'Pastel de Bélem' (or Pasteis de Belém) is still used as a synonym. Anyone visiting Lisbon should not miss a visit to the 'Pastelaria Casa Pasteis de Belém'. The sweet tarts have been prepared and sold here since 1837 according to the monks' original and top secret recipe. With our Pastel de Nata molds you can finally bake the popular little puff pastry tarts yourself.
