The straw is made of 100% medical grade silicone and consists of 2 parts – a mouthpiece and a straight straw that reaches the bottom of the bottle. This allows children to drink in two ways: the straw can be used to drink by holding the bottle upright, but the straw can also be removed, leaving only the mouthpiece, and then the bottle can be used to drink by holding it at an angle. This Free-Flow Kiddo Straw has no valve, allowing the liquid to flow freely through the Straw. When the bottle is inverted, some liquid will leak, but this only concerns the liquid in the stem of the straw. Due to the vacuum in the bottle, the rest of the liquid in the bottle will not leak out. Pura bottles can be used to freeze liquid, use the silicone sealing disk, which is available separately. Do not overfill the bottle as the liquid will expand as it freezes (no more than 275ml in the 325ml bottle). Cleaning and sterilization This Pura bottle and accessories are dishwasher safe. You can also hand wash them with a mild soap and a bottle and teat brush. Avoid using harsh cleaning agents as they may damage the bottle. Accessories last longer if they are cleaned gently by hand. Pura products can also be sterilized. To do this, place the bottle and accessories in boiled water for 5-10 minutes after the pan has been removed from the heat and the water is no longer actively boiling. Silicone parts can also be sterilized in the microwave.
