We created Rive Droite in 2016 with the desire to change things and contribute, on our own scale, to making sustainability the new fashion standard.
Our ambition
Reconciling our environmental requirements and our ethical commitments, to create durable and timeless bags and accessories.
Revaluing overstocks in the textile industry
17 M tons of textiles are thrown away each year in the USA, but only 2.5 M are recycled (Environmental Protection Agency – USA- 2018 data).
It all starts with the materials.
Why make new ones when near our workshop, in Casablanca, there are already strong and durable ones: recycled cotton, industrial denim scraps, overstocks of fabrics from the textile industry?
From then on, our only obsession was to find these materials, recycle them, upcycle them, divert them from their initial use, transform them.
Our objective: to revalorize the surpluses of the textile industry thanks to eco-design, a creative process which integrates respect for the environment from the design of the product, in order to reduce our ecological footprint.
Produce differently: our “Dudes” at the heart of our social project
Creating our own fair and local production model has been at the center of our social concerns from the start.
At the heart of this innovative model: our “Dudes”, experienced seamstresses in a precarious professional situation, whom we help to create their own business.
How ?
We micro-finance the installation of their own workshop, the purchase of sewing machines, we relieve them of the administrative paperwork so that they can concentrate on their know-how: tailoring.
We work together over the long term: we provide them with stable remuneration so that they can project themselves, and together we build the growth of Rive Droite.
This is our vision of fair trade.
