Gashgai carpets are made in this region. The basic design is usually based on vertically arranged rhombuses. The carpets are knotted very tightly, so that the background appears very detailed, with stylized flowers, branches, leaves, birds and other animals. The main color is red in many variations, complemented by dark blue, brown and beige.Despite the relatively young history of carpet making in Qom, which only dates back about a century, Qom carpets have made a name for themselves thanks to their subtle luxury and outstanding silk quality. Some master weavers from this region now enjoy worldwide recognition for their masterful work.
