These unique carpets have been elaborately hand-woven for generations – no two pieces are the same. These include classic kilims, which are recognizable by their characteristic "kilim slit", as well as sumak carpets, which have an embroidery-like structure on the front and loose threads on the back. Originally, these artistic textiles had many uses: they decorated entrance areas, covered camels and horses, served as tent roofs, as tablecloths or even as sleeping pads. Carefully preserved or lovingly restored, each kilim preserves the heritage of its artistic craftsmanship to the present day.
