Prayer rugs in particular were frequently produced in Kula. A special regional pattern is the "mazarlik" or cemetery pattern, which represents a special type of garden pattern. Some carpets from the region are known as "Kömürcü (charcoal burner) Kula" due to their dark and intense color scheme. Yellow borders are characteristic of Kula carpets.
