They are known for fine knotting on a cotton base made from high quality wool, usually cut short and often mixed with silk to highlight details in the patterns. Red, white and light blue are the dominant colors of these carpets and are often decorated with geometric and floral patterns. The design typical of these carpets is based on the formal gardens of ancient Persia, as seen from above. Each square represents a motif from these gardens.
