I am Jean-Hervé, a cereal farmer committed to sustainable agriculture. Located in Varennes sur Fouzon, in Indre. My farm covers an area of over 180 hectares and focuses on the production of large-scale crops, with optimized and environmentally friendly management.
Main products:
Wheat: Grown for human and animal consumption, with particular attention paid to grain and soil quality.
Rapeseed: A source of oil and renewable energy, its cultivation is managed to minimize the use of inputs.
Corn: Produced in rotation with other crops to preserve soil fertility and meet various needs, such as animal feed or starch production.
Sunflower: Valued for its robustness and its contribution to biodiversity, it is cultivated with practices that promote pollination.
Brewing Barley: An essential ingredient in beer, its cultivation encourages agricultural rotations and promotes environmentally friendly practices.
Hay: Produced as a supplement to meet the needs of local breeders or improve the farm’s autonomy.
Commitment to sustainable agriculture:
Input optimization: A rigorous needs analysis limits the use of fertilizers and plant protection products while maintaining optimal productivity.
Crop rotation: A planned alternation of crops to preserve soil fertility, reduce disease and limit erosion.
Preservation of biodiversity: Installation of hedges, flower strips and refuge areas to encourage crop auxiliaries (pollinating insects and natural predators).
Reasonable water management: Use of modern equipment to avoid waste, with targeted irrigation if necessary.
Goals and Values:
Produce high-quality crops while reducing my environmental impact.
Promote transparent and responsible agricultural practices, adapted to consumer expectations.
Maintain sustainable operations that ensure long-term production for future generations.
I am proud to contribute to agriculture that is both productive and respectful of the planet, by taking advantage of technological advances and good agricultural practices.
