The sap of the rubber tree penetrates the grain husk, somewhat like an oil for solid wood furniture. There is no sealing of the surfaces. They remain open-pored and breathable. Finally, they are dried and heated for several hours. The approximately 5% rubber content increases the durability of the extremely fine shells enormously. They are free of dust and very resistant to fine abrasion. They can usually be used four times as long as fillings without rubber. Around 750,000 individual shells per kg of filling weight are distributed loosely and have a good supporting effect. You can infinitely adjust the correct amount of filling for your pillow according to your individual needs. As a rule of thumb: If you have to push the pillow together for a comfortable sleeping position, a higher filling level is advisable. On the other hand, if it feels too tight, you should remove some of the filling. You can wash the filling up to 60 ° C, preferably in a special laundry net. Heating up to 90 ° C is possible without any problems, preferably in the oven or on the heater. Smoldering fires could occur in the microwave. Being dust-free significantly reduces the risk of allergies. A latex allergy does not have to be an obstacle either, as there is no skin contact with the filling. Only in the case of a high degree of sensitization is it not recommended to use it to be on the safe side. Millet shells with caoutchouc can be used for ten years or more, even if they are subject to heavy use, such as in seat cushions or mattresses. The freshly processed peels stick together easily. During use, they dissolve again and the filling becomes more and more supple overall. The hemispherical bowls roll up a bit during the soaking time, so that the filling volume is reduced. speltex® millet husks were obtained in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EC) No. 834/2007.
