What makes our nutmeg so special?Years ago, we started planting Papua nutmeg at Chalakudy on the nearby Periyar River, together with a smallholder project from India. We specifically chose this type because we believe it is the most beautiful and aromatic nutmeg variety. Only these nutmegs make it into the can for us. This ensures that they have a high proportion of essential oils and are very easy to rub. The nuts are selected by hand and gently dried. We grind the smaller ones fresh and use them in our mixtures. In this way, the entire harvest is used. Ultimately, this makes the difference that you not only see, but also taste. We have every batch comprehensively analyzed by the accredited laboratory for harmful substances such as pesticides and mycotoxins. What does nutmeg go with? A pinch of nutmeg gives potato dishes such as mashed potatoes, baked potatoes and potato pancakes a wonderful aroma. Their finely spicy taste also makes traditional dishes such as spinach, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower, soups, stews and pies a special treat. Cherry or apple pie, rice pudding and semolina porridge, drinking chocolate, punch and mulled wine also refine the nutmeg.
