The unusual appearance of the building comes from the fact that it was designed to represent the traditional image of a medieval castle. Most people who see it would probably not believe that it was a water tower, something that has given the building the nickname ”Borgen”. The building was used as a water tower until 1964 before it was replaced by Fredriksdal's water tower due to poor water pressure. Interesting fact: When the new water tower was to be built, a competition was announced to decide what the building would look like. The winner was an architect from Stockholm: Ernst Vilhelm EmanuelStenhammar. All copies are screen printed in 50x70 format on 170g quality paper. Each copy is delivered in a cardboard tube.
