This exquisite DABODABO hand woven market basket has been produced in the traditional Ghanaian bolga basket style. Boasting tribal patterns of pink, red and navy, this basket is perfect for market trips or picnics, or used as a stylish solution to home storage. Fill with blankets, kindling, craft projects or toys – you’ll keep finding new uses for yours! Every market basket in this collection is unique – made once and sold once. Woven from ethically-sourced veta vera grass in Northern Ghana, this beautiful bolga basket is made from robust veta vera grass – an indigenous raw material that’s sustainably sourced and perfect for producing durable baskets. The grass is hand-rolled before being woven by a skilled member of our partner weaving cooperative in Northern Ghana. Farming is the basis of most Ghanaian weavers’ incomes, but drought makes it increasingly difficult for these people to make ends meet. Basket weaving brings the opportunity to earn a valuable second income that’s flexible. Each hand woven storage basket comes with some information about the weaving co-operative.
