KUNI: Black/Natural Vertical Striped Pendant Shade

Bring a beautiful sense of texture and ethical ambience to your interiors with a handwoven sisal lampshade - ethically produced in Eastern Kenya. The KUNI shade features vertical black and white stripes against natural undyed sisal. Create a statement in your living space, whilst introducing a calming, low light.    These lampshades are all woven by women of the Kamba tribe, a group renowned the world over for their exquisite handicrafts. Basketry is one of the crafts that the Kamba – one of Kenya’s largest tribes – are best known for. These weavers all belong to a fair trade cooperative and are are primarily farmers, largely relying on unpredictable rainfall to grow crops and rear livestock. Basket weaving has become a source of alternative income for these communities during the dry seasons, helping women support their families more comfortably.   Each lampshade comes with a little information about the weaving cooperative.
