MACHWEO: NIFTY KNIT XL STORAGE BASKET

These amazingly colourful baskets are woven from recycled sweaters. The weavers buy sweaters on masse, then carefully unravel them to make bundles of yarn which are re-woven around a sisal framework to the designs of the weaver, resulting in a beautiful one-of-a-kind basket. Traditionally, these baskets are called kiondos and a Kenyan mother would craft one for her daughter upon marriage. The Nifty Knits make great laundry baskets or kids toy storage and are soft and child friendly! Due to the nature of how they are made, we are unable to take on specific designs or colour requests.
