Stunning NANTIWE is a traditional Ghanaian bolga basket, sporting beautiful shades of red, blue and green in an intricate tribal pattern. This market basket is truly one-of-a-kind: you won’t find another like this, so once it’s gone it’s gone! NANTIWE is the perfect shopping or picnic companion and can be put to use all over the home. Fill yours with hats and gloves, rugs and throws, bathroom accessories - or toys! Woven from ethically-sourced veta vera grass in Northern Ghana, this beautiful bolga basket is made from robust veta vera grass – an indigenous raw material that’s sustainably sourced and perfect for producing durable baskets. The grass is hand-rolled before being woven by a skilled member of our partner weaving cooperative in Northern Ghana. Agricultural work is the mainstay of most of these Ghanaian weavers’ incomes, but the pervasive dry season makes it increasingly difficult for families to meet school fees and medical bills. Basket weaving brings opportunity to earn a flexible and valuable second income. Each market basket comes with some information about the weaving co-operative that made yours.
