The instrument of the year 2024: The tuba! In 1835, Wilhelm Wieprecht and Carl Wilhelm Moritz applied for a patent for the tuba in Berlin. The new instrument was soon used in Prussia's military bands, and then French composers also discovered the tuba for themselves: Hector Berlioz used it in his opera "Benvenuto Cellini" as early as 1938, and the tuba found its way into the permanent orchestral line-up.
