HAIR TYPE: Normal / Dry / Curly / Afro KEY INGREDIENTS: Babassu oil is cold pressed from the nuts of the babassu palm, which is native to South America, in the tropical forests of Brazil. The nuts are reminiscent of small coconuts and are collected from the wild-growing palm trees. Babassu oil is white in color with a mild nutty scent and although it is described as an oil, it actually has a semi-solid texture at room temperature but melts when it comes in contact with the skin. Babassu oil contains an impressive range of healthy fatty acids that benefit both the skin and the hair. It is a good alternative to coconut oil as the fatty acid composition of the two oils is very similar to each other, but unlike coconut oil, babassu oil is non-comedogenic, ie it does not clog the pores and is easily absorbed without having a greasy effect on the skin and hair. About 50% of the fatty acid composition in babassu oil consists of lauric acid, which has an excellent cleansing and antimicrobial effect. The other 50% is composed of stearic acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid and oleic acid, which have excellent nourishing, moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties. Due to its high content of vitamin E and phytosterols, babassu oil also has strong antioxidant properties that strengthen and protect the skin and hair from harmful environmental influences. Babassu oil is great for the hair because it is gentle and light, penetrates deep into the hair core and leaves the hair soft and shiny. Its moisturizing properties nurture and help restore the hair's elasticity, strength and health. Babassu oil is harvested from the Amazon rainforest and is extracted from the kernels of the Babassu palm tree. In addition, it is a very easily absorbed oil that quickly penetrates and gives the hair lots of nourishment, shine and moisture without appearing greasy. Nilotica Shea Butter is a rare and unusually delicious and creamy shea butter. Nilotica shea butter is made from wild-harvested nuts from the charity tree (Vitellaria nilotica) that only grows in a limited area in East Africa, especially northern Uganda, and is different from the more conventional and gritty shea butter that comes from West Africa, typically Ghana. Nilotica shea butter is silky soft and creamy and is absorbed much faster by the skin and hair than conventional shea butter. It is extremely rich in Vitamins A and E and healthy fatty acids and provides lots of moisture and care for especially dry and dull hair that needs a nutritional boost.
