North Coast Limited Main Street of the North West 1951 - A3 (297x420mm) Archival Print (Unframed)

The North Coast Limited was a famous passenger train operated by the Northern Pacific Railway between Chicago and Seattle via Bismarck, North Dakota and Livingston, Montana for Yellowstone Park. The service ran from 1900 to 1971 and had a celebrated dining car service. Its fabled "Great Big Baked Potato" was one of the NCL's best selling food items. The Streamlined North Coast Limited began service in 1948; the crew included a stewardess who was a registered nurse. In the 1950s the journey took 46 hours and 30 minutes and featured Raymond Loewy designed two-tone green carriages and Lewis and Clark themed interiors as well as observation dome cars. The last train operated on April 30, 1971, seventy-one years and one day after the inaugural.
