Poster "Itadakimasu" (Silkscreen format 30x30cm)

This poster is part of our “Umami” collection. You most certainly know the bento box, the famous Japanese lunch box that we take every day to school, to work, or for a picnic. But do you know the kyaraben? This is the super cute version of the bento in which certain elements of the meal are in the shape of a character (hence the name character bento, shortened to charaben/kyaraben). Parents compete in creativity to make their children's meals fun and some kyaraben are real works of art! The expression Itadakimasu is pronounced in Japan before starting a meal. It’s a bit like the French “bon appétit” but a more faithful translation would read “I humbly accept this meal”.
