Jane Austen Wall Art

Who is Jane Austen? Jane Austen was an English novelist known primarily for her six major novels, which interpret, critique and comment upon the British landed gentry at the end of the 18th century. Austen's plots often explore the dependence of women on marriage in the pursuit of favourable social standing and economic security. Jane Austen began writing when she was just 12 years old. She wrote 6 novels in total, out of which Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park and Emma, were published while she was still alive. Her novels were published anonymously. Jane Austen was born in 1775 in Hampshire, England. She lived in a time period when women were expected to be wives and mothers, and nothing else. Women were not welcome in the world of writing, a field dominated by men. It was considered improper if a woman tried her hand at writing, never mind if she attempted to publish her work. ———————- Jane Austen Quotes Wall Art This illustrative art quote is from my “Badass Women” series art prints.
