This añejo rum is aged for 80 months in oak barrels; which gives it this incomparable and very pleasant sweetness. Its prolonged stay in the wood gives it this remarkable aromatic complexity. The packaging is neat, with the same cardboard packaging in the form of a barrel, but this time with a bronze, amber earth tint, chosen for this 80 month vintage. The golden writing highlights the bottle which can be seen through this chiseled window. The bottle is still as elegant with this barrel shape which characterizes the Barrica brand. The color of this rum is expressed through ruby ochre hues with copper highlights. In a glass, this rum has a high density with this liquid which stops quickly and its tears which appear slowly descending on the walls. - On the nose: We perceive light notes of citrus and fruits like ripe banana, but also floral notes, spices, vanilla and ginger. - On the palate: The vanilla flavors are initially noticeable, but quickly other citrus notes such as orange and lemon appear, complemented by aromas of smoky soft wood, spices such as licorice and cinnamon. The alcoholic intensity combines with the delicacy of raisins and chocolate. - Awards: This Barrica 80 rum has won several awards and received a gold medal at the Melbourne Spirits Competition in 2022 with a very nice score of 95 out of 100.
