While it may seem strange to purify drinking water with a charcoal stick, this practice has been known to the Japanese for centuries. Binchotan is an activated carbon obtained from the branches of white oak trees. It is known to soften water, add beneficial minerals, and adsorb unwanted tastes and odors, such as chlorine. If you use your Binchotan regularly, at home or in your bottle, and refill it once or twice a day, it should last you about 3 months. You can then recharge it by boiling it for 10 minutes and then letting it dry. You can then reuse it for about 3 more months. That is a total active filtration period of 6 months. Do not wash charcoal sticks. Filter activated carbon also has many secondary uses, such as extending the life of your fruits or vegetables, absorbing unwanted odors in your fridge, shoes or kitty litter, or adding nutrients to plants. Simple to use: the filter carbon comes steam and ultrasonically cleaned and is ready to use, all you have to do is fill your bottle with tap water and enjoy filtered water in good taste. LONG LASTING: The sticks have a total filtration time of about 6 months each, when their effectiveness decreases after about 3 months, simply boiling it for 10 minutes will reactivate it for another 3 months.
