Focusing first on improving quality and then on organic certification, the cooperative now focuses on the community by building schools, roads, connections for electricity and drinking water. Duromina farmers reside in Gomma district, western Ethiopia, in the Jimma area. Like much of the Jimma area, the Gomma district is a typical coffee country. The gentle hills extend at an altitude of 1975 to 2000 meters around Duromina. Trees from the local forest provide plenty of shade. Coffee has been growing there wild for centuries.
