Coffee cooperatives were founded by women from the beginning and are still managed by them today. 
We are talking about the Twongere Kawa Coko cooperative founded by 11 coffee farmers in 2009 and led by president Therese Nyrangwabije.    It is one of the five origins of the geography of Great Lakes coffee. 
The diversity of its landscape, its "explosive" lake and its fertile and mountainous soils, located at high altitude, together with ancestral processes and methods, are the characteristics that define coffees of Rwandan origin.
