Meteorology washi tape, atmospheric physics washi tape

Meteorology washi tape, atmospheric physics washi tape: During my undergraduate degree, I had the opportunity to take a course in atmospheric physics and meteorology, which I found fascinating! I happened to take a Spanish class as well, but that wouldn't make such a great scientifically accurate roll of washi tape. anyway... The Earth's atmosphere has been classified by scientists into five different layers, or "strata," each with distinctive characteristics. I designed this washi tape to show a cross section through these layers, with examples of some of the things you might find in each area. The elevation of each layer is 100% accurate; I used a newspaper scale so that the pattern repeats every three inches. -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------- • Troposphere: The layer closest to the Earth's surface is called the Troposphere and extends approximately 12 km above sea level. This is where you will be if you are flying in a commercial airplane. because it has the perfect combination of a kind of thin air but not too thin to make the flight efficient. • Stratosphere: Extending from about 12 km to 50 km above sea level, the Stratosphere is probably best known as synonymous with "that thing that is really, really high." It is also the layer of the thermostat that Concorde flew into. • Mesosphere: The Mesosphere is often grouped together with the Stratosphere under the very creative title of "the middle atmosphere". Scientists, eh ?! You will find weather balloons around the Stratopause, which is the border between the Stratosphere and the Mesosphere. The Mesosphere is also home to around 40,000 tonnes of meteors each year - take a look at the back of the socks! • Thermosphere: This is where the really cool stuff is; the Thermosphere is located between approximately 80 km and 700 km above sea level. This is where you will find the International Space Station, which orbits at a height of approximately 410 km. There are also a lot of low orbiting satellites in this area, and you can see an example of one on the back of these socks! -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------- Did you know that the name "washi" tape is derived from "wa" which means "Japanese" and "shi" which means "paper"? It’s so versatile - washi tape is tearable, reusable, water resistant and biodegradable. It's often used for decoration (colorful bullet journals everywhere can attest to that!), Gift wrapping, scrap booking, and generally jazzing up your life. -------------------------- Approximate sizes: -------------------------- Width: 1.5cm (1/2 ”) Length: 10m (32 ') -------------------------- Materials: -------------------------- Paper washi tape
