The idea for Corpen began in
2015, when two friends joined together because of
their shared interest in creating cool things,
especially beers and businesses.
Founder Brian and co-founder Pablo
met as graduate students
in Barcelona, where they studied
Innovation and Design Thinking. Both were enthusiastic and entrepreneurial homebrewers.
With innovation in mind, we saw
Barcelona, a city that already captivated us, from a new perspective.
The craft beer and cocktail movement, a culture based on local food and wine, and a great appreciation for artisanal and locally made products.
We wonder, how is it that in a city that loves gin and tonic so much, there isn't a craft gin?
We decided to raise the Corpen flag and
take a direction that no one had
explored before. We built Barcelona's first
craft distillery in
Poblenou, a growing tech and art district, and launched
Corpen Gin.
In a city where craft breweries were popping up everywhere, we saw an opportunity to bring a new craft to Barcelona, and that's how Corpen Gin was born.
After three years in our workshop
in Plaça Reial, creating gin from scratch
for small groups, we moved
our operations to larger
facilities.
In January 2019, we began building our
distillery in the heart of the Poblenou district.
We distilled our first official batch of
Llevant Gin at the end of 2020 and opened
our doors for distillery tours and gin tastings at the beginning of 2021.
